January 2005 [view other months] During January 2005 we received 15 comments. 6 were compliments, 6 were complaints and 3 were suggestions for improvement.
There were no comments from unknown sources.
Young people: Here are some of the compliments received from Young People during January 2005: • “a very big thank you to all the staff” from two young people who completed their work experience with Connexions. “all the staff were so find, friendly and polite with us.” “we think more young people should take more opportunity to do work experience in Connexions” • “thanks so much for helping me with the trouble I went through if it wasn’t for you I probably wouldn’t have got this job or even got out of my other job”
Partners: Here are some of the compliments received from partner organisations during January 2005: • who attended training event at Connexions and was complimentary about the disabled access to the building and found the staff friendly and helpful. • “very grateful thanks and those of the school for meeting our OFSTED inspection team, they were impressed by the volume of support” • “many thanks for the superb support and help that you have provided” to a local college with their group meetings. • who mentioned us favourably for the funding support they had received from the V&CS grants in their annul report and in a presentation to stakeholders by their Chief Executive.
Suggestions: Here are some of the suggestions we received during January 2005: • A partner organisation attended a training event at one of our offices and suggested that a different room layout or booking an additional room to allow more access would have accommodated wheelchair users easier. The suggestion will be implemented if it is known that a participant on a training event uses a wheelchair. • Requests from two organisations to add their links to our website. As the organisations deal with issues that effect young people the links have been added.
Complaints: Here are some of the complaints we received during January 2005: • A young person complained about the level of service received. As the complaint was anonymous it was not possible to obtain the exact details of the complaint. The comments made have been fully reviewed by senior management of the area concerned who consider the complaint to be unfounded and are satisfied that clients receive an appropriate level of service. • From a partner organisation regarding the perceived level of service received when asking Connexions to advertise a vacancy. The complaint was investigated and the department concerned considers that appropriate action was taken to advertise the vacancy. • Another complaint from a young person regarding the lack of part-time vacancies advertised. The majority of employers fill part-time vacancies by advertising themselves or from direct contact with young people. We would advertise those that we were made aware of. The young person concerned was offered assistance with completion of CV and letters to employers. The ifax booklet contains hints about the action that a young person can take to obtain part-time employment. • Two complaints from young people who had been trained in, but had not had the opportunity to be involved in the Recruitment and Selection of staff. The recruitment events that have occurred in the area concerned did involve young people. The new procedures for involving young people have now been launched and are being monitored.
